Residential Carpet Cleaning FAQs

  • How much notice do you require for scheduling?

Scheduling varies depending on the time of the year. We typically schedule most cleanings within 1 week. Keep in mind that often anything is possible. If we can’t help you out then we will find someone who will. Call (513) 549-2099 to schedule now!!

  • How long will it take to clean my carpet?

As each home is unique so too is each job. It depends on the level of soil, furniture, and even weather can play a big part in the time process. We can give a great estimate at the time of quote and cleaning.

  • How long before I can walk on my freshly cleaned carpet?

We recommend that all animals and small children remain off of the freshly clean floor or upholstery until the next day. If you need to step into the living room to grab something, it will be fine. And if by some chance something should happen, contact Fresh Floors office and we will fix it.

  • Why do I have ‘black lines’ around my baseboards and in my doorways?

This is what the industry refers to as “soil filtration.” Carpet is a gigantic filter that traps all forms of soil (that’s why it’s so important to clean it on a scheduled basis). This is why studies show that those with allergies are better off with carpet if properly vacuumed and cleaned on a regular basis. Soil filtration is caused as the furnace turns on, creates a vacuum, and draws air to the HVAC. While pulling the air the dirt becomes trapped. Soil filtration can often be cleaned, but will always return unless the problem is solved. Consult your HVAC service company to avoid future problems.

  • Is there any kind of warranty or guarantee on your work?

Yes. Ironically almost every company that has a warranty makes claim that theirs is the best. Well we will allow our clients to decide that, but ours is a 30 day Fresh and Free Guarantee. We will come back regardless if your child drops a coke or your pet has an accident.  Go to our Residential Services page to see a short video about this!

  • Are you insured?

We are insured. We carry 2 million as well as workers compensation.

  • What process do you use in cleaning my carpet?

We have both HWE (hot water extraction) and low moisture (often referred to as Dry Cleaning). We typically use HWE in homes mainly because it is the only cleaning method that is universally approved by all carpet manufacturers. Both have their places and we will use whatever is best for your home or office.

  • How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

This depends on the method being used. The low moisture method is often dry within an hour. Hot water extraction is often dry in 6-12 hours depending on the HVAC, moisture in the home and the weather outside.

  • Will cleaning my carpet cause it to get dirty faster?

If cleaned properly by a cleaning company such as Fresh Floors, it will not resoil more quickly. This comes from cleaners not properly rinsing the carpet of detergent residue, thus creating a sticky surface allowing all carpet fibers to attract more soil.

  • Will you use a dry cleaning or hot water cleaning method on my carpet?

We have both HWE (hot water extraction) and low moisture(often referred to as Dry Cleaning). We typically use HWE in homes mainly because it is the only cleaning method that is universally approved by all carpet manufacturers. Both have their places and will use whatever is best for your home or office.

  • What standards do Fresh Floors adhere to when cleaning my floors?

We follow the IICRC guidelines as well as CHAT Chemical Heat Agitation Time– We start by vacuuming your home, prespraying, and prespoting of the carpet. After the prespray, we agitate the carpet by a carpet brush, then we rinse out the residue and apply protector. At the end, we groom the carpet all one direction to assist in asthetics and drying.
